CARE ADVICE

General

Your lucky charm Thobe, suit as well as your favorite black Abaya deserve the best care possible in order to last longer.
Well aware of that, our experts share with you the little tips that change everything.

WASHING MACHINE
As regards machine wash, check the laundry symbols on your clothes labels. Moreover, do not overload your machine and always separate whites from colors.
Prefer hand washing your delicate items or washing them inside out. Also check the pockets of your Thobes and trousers are empty.

TUMBLE-DRYER
Check the dryer symbol on the label before putting any item onto the dryer. Avoid drying any textile containing elastic material, such as jumpers, as it can bobble or shrink. It is better to let it air dry, laying it flat away from the sun.

IRONING TIPS
Dampening your clothes before ironing helps smooth out the creases. We also recommend you to iron your clothes on reverse side and to protect your delicate textiles by placing a cloth between the iron and the fabric.

NATURAL FIBERS
Your natural fibers (wool, linen or silk…) required a gentle wash and a specific care. It is essential to dry clean delicate items.
Get your delicate fabrics pampered with our experts care. This special treatment will bring softness and brightness back to your items.

WHITE ITEMS
Your white clothes are losing their brightness? Are they turning grey or yellow? First of all, do not mix whites with colors and contrary to preconceived ideas, never use bleach as it can damage the fibers. If you want to whiten clothes while preserving the nature of the textiles, our experts care helps restore the original whiteness of your clothes.

DENIM / JEANS
Dry cleaning is a perfect option when you wash them for the first time as they tend to fade during the first wash. Afterwards, you can wash your jeans inside out with buttons and zip closed at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees. Ideally, let them air-dry as the heat from the dryer can damage them.

How to read a label?

Your favorite jumper has shrunk in the wash?
You wandered if your evening dress should be hand-washed or dry-cleaned by a dry-cleaner?
Stop asking yourself the question. It is quite simple: learn how to properly read clothing care labels.
The problem is many of you cut the labels out on clothes, but without labels, items no longer have id card. If you cut the label off, our experts will assess the composition of your items but may make some reserves in case of doubt.

More about washing symbols:

Washing: Depicted as a bucket filled with water, the Wash Symbol tells you-what temperature or machine setting you should use to wash the item of clothing. Inside the ‘Normal Wash’ symbol, there will either be a temperature value or one to six dots signifying temperature ranges.

Bleaching: A triangle without anything in the middle means that any kind of bleach can be used on the clothing when needed. A triangle filled with diagonal lines means that only non-chlorine bleaches should be used. Check the ingredients on your bleach to see if it contains chlorine. A solid black triangle with crossed lines means ‘Do Not Bleach’. You should not attempt to use any kind of bleach on this garment.

Drying: The basic tumble dryer symbol is a square with a circle in the middle of it. As with the washing symbols, the number of dots inside the circle will tell you the heat setting you should put your tumble dryer on to, as well as any specific program settings required: One dot means Tumble Dry Low, Three dots mean Tumble Dry High. When an item is marked as ‘Do Not Tumble Dry’ with a cross through the drying symbol, leave this garment to drip-dry on a drying rack, in an airing cupboard, or outside on your washing line rather than putting it in the dryer.

Ironing: To make life easy, the ironing symbol is shaped like an old-fashioned iron. One dot means that it can be ironed on low. Two dots mean that it can be ironed on medium. Ironing symbols also employ the same dot system for heat levels, which should be adjustable on your iron: three dots mean that the item can be ironed on high.

Dry Cleaning: The Dry-Cleaning symbol is a circle. For clothes that are dry clean only, the circle has a letter ‘P’ inside it. The clothes that should be dry-cleaned under normal conditions will have a letter ‘F’ inside the circle. A crossed-out circle means that you should not dry-clean the item.

How to Deal with STAINS!

A jam stain on your top or a blood stain on your dress or Thobe?
Accidents can happen to anyone at any time.

LUNDONE experts provide you with valuable advice to minimize spreading and prevent further damage to your clothing before entrusting them to us.

Life-saving techniques: do not wait too long to bring your item of clothing to the dry cleaner as the longer you wait, the harder it will be to remove the stain…
Do not wash the item without knowing the appropriate treatment. If the stain remains after the washing it will be harder to remove it.

BLOOD STAIN: Never use warm or hot water as it will cook the blood and set the stain. The best thing to do is to soak the bloodstained item of clothing in cold water.

TOMATO SAUCE: Remove any excess with absorbent paper. Dab the stain with a cloth soaked in water and rubbing alcohol.

GREASE STAIN: Absorb any excess with absorbent paper.

INK STAIN: Remove any excess with absorbent paper and dab the stain carefully without spreading it. India ink stains are unfortunately unremovable.

CHOCOLATE STAIN: Remove any excess with absorbent paper if the chocolate is melted. If the chocolate had already dried and hardened, apply pure glycerin directly onto the stain in order to soften it up and remove the excess.

NAIL POLISH STAIN: Never apply solvent, as it will damage the fabric and create rings.

WAX STAIN: Put an absorbent paper onto the stained area and use a warm iron on top of it in order to absorb the wax.

CHEWING-GUM: Put the gum-stained item of clothing in the freezer or apply an ice cube onto the gum to harden and remove it while carefully twisting the fabric to remove any residue.
